Born in North Dakota, David was a registered piano technician and a longtime member of the Piano Technicians Guild. He toured as a piano tuner early in his career with Electric Light Orchestra, Emerson Lake and Palmer and extensively with Billy Joel. David and his wife Kat met in the fall of 1977 at a Billy Joel performance in Charlotte, North Carolina. “After Billy Joel’s concert, David was putting away the piano and I actually stepped up on stage and started talking to him.”.

Two classes are available. Ensemble 1 is for students with at least one year of flute playing experience who are able to play F, Bb and G major scales. It meets from 10 a.m. to noon. Ensemble 2 is for students with at least three years flute playing experience who are able to play major scales up to three flats and two sharps. It meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students play a wide variety of repertoire, though students always seem to prefer a larger focus on classical music. “Bach to rock,” Edwards laughs. The educator mostly sticks to music written specifically for the flute, though she will also do arrangements for pieces her students choose. (Harry Potter’s “Hedwig’s Theme” comes to mind.).
